Security forces carried out major operations against Fitna al-Khawarij in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s North Waziristan, killing 11 militants in the last 48 hours, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The forces acted on intelligence-based reports and targeted militant hideouts in the Datta Khel area.
According to ISPR, troops engaged multiple locations where militants linked to Fitna al-Khawarij were hiding. Heavy exchange of fire took place during the operations. After the clashes, 11 terrorists were neutralised. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the site. Security forces later launched a sanitisation operation to clear remaining threats in the area.
In a separate operation in Bannu’s Miryan area, Pakistan Army, police, and Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) conducted a joint action based on intelligence inputs. Officials said 16 terrorists, including two ringleaders, were killed. However, two policemen embraced martyrdom during the intense exchange of fire.
Meanwhile, a powerful explosion near a railway track close to Chaman Phatak in Quetta killed at least 14 people and injured several others, including women and children. Rescue teams shifted the injured to nearby hospitals for treatment.
The recent wave of violence highlights rising cross-border militancy in Pakistan’s border regions, especially in KP and Balochistan. Authorities say groups operating under Fitna al-Khawarij have been involved in multiple attacks targeting security forces and civilians.
Pakistan has repeatedly urged the Afghan authorities to stop militant groups from using Afghan soil for attacks inside its territory. Officials maintain that continued inaction has contributed to ongoing security challenges. Operations against Fitna al-Khawarij will continue across affected regions to restore stability.
