Indian actor Vikrant Massey recently disclosed that his elder brother embraced Islam at the age of 17.
The Hindustan Times reported on Tuesday that Massey shared insights into his family dynamics, revealing that his brother, Moeen, underwent a religious conversion. Massey himself hails from a diverse religious background, with his father being Christian and his mother Sikh.
Explaining the circumstances, Massey expressed, “My brother’s name is Moeen, and I am called Vikrant. You might wonder about the name Moeen. Well, he converted to Islam, and our family supported his decision.” He further elaborated on the familial atmosphere surrounding his brother’s conversion, stating, “He made this significant change at the age of 17, which is quite remarkable. My mother follows Sikhism, while my father is a devout Christian who frequents church services twice a week. Growing up, I witnessed numerous discussions and debates concerning religion and spirituality.”
Massey reflected on the reactions from relatives following his brother’s conversion, noting that his father firmly defended his son’s right to choose his faith, asserting that it was not the concern of others. “Observing this, I embarked on my own journey, contemplating the essence of religion. Ultimately, I concluded that it is a construct of humanity,” Massey added.
