PESHAWAR: Twenty-seven terrorists were killed while 25 soldiers were martyred in multiple operations carried out in Dera Ismail Khan district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as stated in a military announcement on Tuesday.
According to ISPR, an intelligence-based operation was carried out in the general area of Darazinda in the district, targeting reported terrorist presence on the night of December 11 and 12. During the operation, a terrorists’ hideout was discovered, resulting in the elimination of seventeen terrorists.
In another intelligence-based operation in the general area of Kulachi, own troops effectively engaged terrorists’ location, leading to the demise of four terrorists. However, after a fierce exchange of fire, two courageous soldiers lost their lives in the line of duty.
The killed terrorists were allegedly involved in various terrorist activities against security forces and the killing of innocent civilians. The operations also resulted in the recovery of weapons, ammunition, and explosives.
On December 12, 2023, in the early hours, a group of six terrorists attempted to attack a security forces’ post in the general area of Daraban. The attempt was successfully thwarted, leading the terrorists to resort to ramming an explosive-laden vehicle into the post, followed by a suicide bombing attack. The ensuing blasts caused the collapse of the building, resulting in the tragic loss of twenty-three soldiers who embraced martyrdom. All six terrorists were reportedly engaged and neutralized.
Sanitization operations are underway to eliminate any remaining terrorists in the area, as the security forces of Pakistan remain committed to eradicating the menace of terrorism from the country, with the sacrifices of brave soldiers further strengthening their resolve.
