Security forces confirmed on Thursday that three terrorists were killed during an intelligence-based operation conducted in the Badrang area of Awaran district of Balochistan, according to security sources.
Officials said the raid formed part of an ongoing string of intelligence-based operations under Rad-ul-Fitna-3, a broader counterterrorism campaign directed at dismantling networks linked to Indian-backed proxies operating in the province.
Security sources added that a significant cache of weapons and ammunition was seized from the militants during the operation, though further details on the exact quantity were not disclosed.
Second Strike Within Days Targets Fitna al-Hindustan Network
This latest action follows closely on the heels of another operation in Balochistan’s Mastung district, where security forces eliminated at least three militants tied to Fitna al-Hindustan just days earlier.
Among those killed in Mastung was a commander identified as Naqeeb. Sources said the militants’ vehicle was destroyed entirely in the course of that operation.
Security officials note that both operations reflect a sustained push against militant networks that have gained a foothold in the province, with authorities framing the campaigns as necessary to curb rising instability.
Balochistan and KP Remain Pakistan’s Violence Hotspots
Pakistan has faced a marked rise in militant activity, especially across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, since the Afghan Taliban’s return to power in 2021.
Data compiled by the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) shows both provinces continued to dominate the country’s violence figures through the second quarter of 2026, with KP recording the highest toll among all regions.
Together, KP and Balochistan accounted for nearly 96% of all violence-related deaths nationwide during that period. KP alone registered more than 61% of total fatalities, at 475 deaths, while Balochistan recorded 265 deaths, making up around 34% of the total.
In terms of incidents, KP again led with 151 recorded cases, representing 57% of the national count, while Balochistan followed with 94 incidents, or roughly 35%. The figures highlight how militant violence in Pakistan remains heavily concentrated in these two provinces, even as security forces continue targeted operations like the one in Awaran.
