LAHORE: The three-day celebrations of the 554th birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism, started today at Nankana Sahib.

Pakistan has granted approximately 3,000 visas to Sikh pilgrims from India, allowing them to participate in the 554th birthday celebrations of Baba Guru Nanak scheduled to take place in Pakistan from November 25 to December 4, 2023.

The pilgrims will visit various significant locations, including Dera Sahib, Panja Sahib, Nankana Sahib, and Kartarpur Sahib, as mentioned in a press release by the high commission.

Aizaz Khan, Pakistan’s charge d’affaires in India, conveyed his heartfelt felicitations to the pilgrims and wished them a safe journey.

The issuance of visas is covered with the framework of the Pakistan-India Protocol on Visits to Religious Shrines, established in 1974.
