RAWALPINDI: Security forces successfully thwarted a terrorist attack on the Pakistan Air Force Training Air Base in Mianwali, said military operation on Saturday.
All nine terrorists involved were neutralized, ensuring the safety of personnel and assets, as reported by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) of the armed forces.
The timely action by security forces damaged three pre-grounded aircraft and a fuel bowser, but the security of the assets was maintained.
The ISPR stated that a joint clearance and combing operation is in its final stages, emphasizing the armed forces’ commitment to eradicating terrorism at any cost. Meanwhile, the Tehreek-e-Jihad Pakistan (TJP), a newly emerged group affiliated with the TTP, claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement to the media.
In a separate incident on Friday in Balochistan, 14 soldiers were martyred when alleged terrorists ambushed two vehicles of the security forces traveling from Pasni to Ormara in Gwadar district. The ISPR revealed that the terrorists were strategically positioned, waiting to attack the convoy as it approached.
