Reports circulating on social media claiming the death of legendary Sufi singer Abida Parveen are false and baseless, her family has confirmed.
Putting an end to the widespread speculation, Abida Parveen’s daughter clarified that the iconic vocalist is alive, healthy, and in good spirits, dismissing the rumours as completely untrue.
Speaking to the media, she said that misleading reports about her mother’s death caused unnecessary panic among fans in Pakistan and abroad. “These claims are entirely false. My mother is absolutely fine,” she stated.
She further explained that the confusion arose after the death of another woman named Abida Parveen in Lahore’s Dilgaran Chowk area, which led to the spread of incorrect information online. “Some people wrongly linked that incident to my mother, which is deeply irresponsible,” she added.
The family urged the public to rely only on credible and verified sources for information and refrain from sharing unconfirmed news on social media.
The false reports sparked widespread concern among Abida Parveen’s admirers worldwide. The family has appealed to both the public and media outlets to respect the privacy of the celebrated artist and avoid spreading unverified claims.
Abida Parveen remains one of Pakistan’s most revered cultural icons, admired globally for her contribution to Sufi music.
