Abraham Accords Not Acceptable Under Any Circumstances, Says Khawaja Asif

Abraham Accords Not Acceptable: Khawaja Asif

Islamabad: Federal Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has said that the Abraham Accords are not acceptable to Pakistan under any circumstances. He stated that the agreement goes against the country’s basic principles and national position.

Speaking to a private television channel, Khawaja Asif said Pakistan has not been contacted by the US State Department or any other forum regarding the Abraham Accords.

He added that there is no progress on the matter. According to him, no one has asked Pakistan to take such a step.

Pakistan’s Position on the Abraham Accords

Khawaja Asif made it clear that Pakistan cannot accept the Abraham Accords. He said the agreement is against Pakistan’s ideological foundation and long-standing position.

The Defence Minister also said that Pakistan’s passport does not recognize Israel as a valid destination. He used this point to underline Pakistan’s official stance.

Talking about the situation in Gaza, Khawaja Asif expressed serious concern. He said the Gaza agreement is still being openly violated.

He questioned how talks could be held with those who, according to him, cannot be trusted even for a single day.

Khawaja Asif also commented on US President Donald Trump’s recent statements. He said Trump’s unconventional style has helped him achieve success in some areas.

He added that several peace talks linked to Trump are now producing results.

Earlier, President Trump had urged Muslim countries, including Pakistan, to recognize Israel. He said all Muslim countries should sign the Abraham Accords.

Trump also said Saudi Arabia and Qatar should take the lead in signing the agreement. According to his remarks, only one or two countries not signing the agreement may be acceptable.

The countries reportedly discussed include Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Pakistan, Türkiye, Egypt, and Jordan.

The United Arab Emirates and Bahrain have already signed the Abraham Accords. Trump also said that if Iran reaches a ceasefire agreement, he would consider it an honor to bring Iran into the Abraham Accords framework.

Pakistan Maintains Firm Stance

Khawaja Asif’s statement shows that Pakistan continues to maintain a firm position on the issue. He said Pakistan’s stance is based on its core principles, foreign policy position, and concern over the situation in Gaza.

The Defence Minister made it clear that Pakistan is not currently part of any process related to the Abraham Accords.
