Rawalpindi:The Accountability Court judge overseeing the £190 million reference against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, has been changed once more.
Judge Muhammad Ali Waraich of Accountability Court No.1, who was previously handling the case at Adiala Jail, has been replaced by District and Sessions Judge Nasir Javed Rana. Meanwhile, Judge Abida Sajjad of Grade 20 has been appointed to Accountability Court No.3, following recommendations from the Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
The Ministry of Law issued a formal notification regarding these new appointments yesterday.
It’s worth noting that during a hearing in June, Imran Khan’s legal team had raised objections to Judge Muhammad Ali Waraich’s appointment. Previously, Judge Nasir Javed Rana, who had been handling the case, stepped down after his three-year deputation ended. Judge Waraich had been temporarily assigned to Accountability Court No.1 for a three-month period.
