ISLAMABAD: The Accountability Court in Islamabad convened on Wednesday to address the Toshakhana vehicles reference, requesting a report from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) by January 4.
Judge Muhammad Basheer presided over the hearing concerning the Toshakhana reference, involving former President Asif Ali Zardari and former Prime Ministers Nawaz Sharif and Yusuf Raza Gilani, among other accused individuals.
Yusuf Raza Gilani, a leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), was absent due to his involvement in an election campaign and sought exemption from attendance.
During the proceedings, Qazi Misbah Advocate, Nawaz Sharif’s lawyer, appealed for the provision of notice regarding the recovery, emphasizing its consideration in the next hearing. Additionally, six different petitions were brought to attention for future hearings.
Qazi Misbah stated, “Nawaz Sharif has cooperated with the investigation, and based on its findings, NAB was supposed to submit a report today.”
In response, the NAB prosecutor explained that the investigating officer needed time to submit the report due to a recent transfer and a change in the director’s position.
The NAB prosecutor assured the court that the investigating officer would appear in the next hearing and submit the required report. The court, in turn, requested the report from NAB by January 4, allowing a four-day window for submission. However, the NAB prosecutor expressed concerns that four days might not be sufficient, to which the court insisted on the specified deadline.
