Surab terrorist attack claimed the life of Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Revenue Hidayat Buledi on Friday. Armed militants linked to the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), also known as Fitna al-Hindustan, launched a brutal assault on Surab city in Khuzdar district.
The terrorists stormed Surab Bazaar, spreading fear and chaos. They looted a local commercial bank and torched the homes of several government officials. Among the targets was ADC Buledi’s residence, where women and children were present during the militant assault.
Government spokesperson Shahid Rind strongly denounced the Surab terrorist attack. He called it a direct threat to the state’s authority. According to him, it was a cowardly move meant to disturb peace in Balochistan. Mr. Rind claimed the attackers were acting as proxies of India. He stated they aimed to destabilize the region through targeted extremist violence.
Mr. Rind praised the martyrdom of ADC Hidayat Buledi. He said the officer showed exceptional bravery and made the ultimate sacrifice for his people. “His courage has become a new standard of heroism,” he said.
Security forces, including the Frontier Corps (FC), Levies, and police, began a sweeping search operation. Their goal: track down and arrest the perpetrators. Deputy Commissioner Surab confirmed the armed attack and honoured ADC Buledi. He remembered him not only as a public servant but as a LUMS graduate who fought with resolve during the act of terror.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif both condemned the Surab terrorist attack. The Prime Minister expressed deep grief over the loss of ADC Buledi. He offered condolences to the bereaved family and praised the slain officer’s commitment to duty. PM Shehbaz described the attackers as enemies of Balochistan’s peace. He pledged to continue the battle against terrorism until it is wiped out. He also instructed authorities to arrest those involved and punish them severely.
President Zardari paid tribute to ADC Buledi and prayed for strength for the family. He blamed foreign-backed terrorists for fueling violence in Balochistan. According to him, Indian-sponsored networks seek to spread unrest in Pakistan. He said their evil plots would fail. The President also promised that operations against groups like Fitna al-Hindustan would go on until stability is restored.
The Surab terrorist attack follows another deadly incident. On May 21, a blast hit near Zero Point in Khuzdar. That explosion targeted a school bus, killing eight people, including five children. Intelligence officials now warn of increased activity by India’s RAW. They claim that groups like the BLA and Fitna al-Khawarij—along with illegal Afghan operatives—are working to inflame terrorism in Balochistan.
Earlier this year, ISPR Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry revealed proof of Indian state-backed terrorism in Balochistan. He accused India of planning more attacks to destabilize the province.
The Balochistan government has vowed to eliminate all anti-state forces. It has promised to continue military and law enforcement operations to restore calm and order in the region.
