The Afghan link to terrorism in Pakistan has come into focus after a major security operation in Balochistan. Authorities arrested an Afghan national during an intelligence-based operation in Kuchlak, uncovering fresh evidence of cross-border militant activity.
Officials said the suspect, identified as Habibullah, confessed to his role in attacks targeting Pakistan’s security forces. He admitted working with both the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Afghan Taliban. According to investigators, these attacks caused casualties among security personnel and left several others injured.
During questioning, Habibullah revealed that his brother is also part of the TTP network. He further disclosed that their group operated under a commander known as “Muslim.” This information helped authorities understand the structure of the network and its links across the border.
Interestingly, the suspect had earlier been detained on suspicion but was released after being considered a civilian. However, new evidence led to his re-arrest in Kuchlak. This time, the investigation exposed deeper connections and strengthened claims about the Afghan link to terrorism in Pakistan.
Officials stated that Pakistan has repeatedly shared evidence with Afghan authorities regarding the use of Afghan soil for attacks. They emphasized that the government continues to urge action against groups involved in cross-border terrorism.
This latest development adds weight to long-standing concerns about militant networks operating across borders. Security agencies believe such operations are crucial to breaking these networks and preventing future attacks.
