The Afghanistan Freedom Front (AFF) has claimed responsibility for a blast in the central square of Pol-e-Khomri city. The explosion targeted a convoy of Taliban intelligence vehicles on Saturday, 18 January. In a statement released the following day, the AFF detailed the attack and its aftermath.
The group reported that four Taliban members were killed in the incident. Additionally, two others sustained injuries. Among the targets was Mullah Ibrahim Mansoori, a commander of Taliban intelligence. However, his fate remains unknown, according to the statement.
Local residents in Baghlan province confirmed the explosion. They reported the incident to Afghanistan International, stating it occurred on Saturday afternoon in Pol-e-Khomri city.
The Afghanistan Freedom Front describes itself as an armed resistance group formed after the fall of Afghanistan’s previous government in 2021. The AFF emphasizes its mission to defend freedom, justice, and the rights of the Afghan people.
In its statement, the AFF reiterated its commitment to an Afghanistan free from extremism. The group views armed struggle as a necessary step to achieve this goal.
