Aleema Khan, sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, criticized the judiciary’s decision to convict Nawaz Sharif over his employment Iqama in the Panama case, calling it a mistake.
Speaking to the media outside the Islamabad High Court (IHC), Aleema Khan said that the recent letter from six judges has brought to light various issues, urging for a stand for justice from the judiciary. She emphasized the need for lawyers to support these judges in their quest for justice.
Pointing out flaws in the Panama case, Imran Khan’s sister highlighted that Nawaz Sharif was punished over an Iqama, rather than the primary case itself. She argued that had there been a conviction in the original case, Sharif wouldn’t have the freedom he currently enjoys.
Aleema continued by stating that the testimony of Asad Majeed should remove any doubts, suggesting that the 10-year sentence in the cypher and treason cases serves to protect others, particularly Donald Lu.
Furthermore, she questioned the whereabouts of the remaining copies of the cypher, indicating that the investigation should focus on their retrieval.
