Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, a prominent figure within Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has disclosed the party’s nominees for the forthcoming intra-party elections scheduled for March 3.
Ali Zafar is set to vie for the position of Chairman, while Umar Ayub is nominated for the role of General Secretary, as revealed by Barrister Gohar. Stressing the significance of transparent elections in fostering economic progress, he cited global instances of expeditious judicial resolutions. Despite encountering legal hurdles, PTI remains resolute in its commitment to active parliamentary involvement and advancement.
PTI’s intra-party elections are slated for March 3, as per the official announcement by the party, which includes a detailed timeline leading up to the polling day.
Per the provided schedule, party members are eligible to submit their nomination papers on February 23 and 24. Subsequently, scrutiny of these submissions is scheduled for February 25, with final decisions on their validity expected by February 27.
Polling booths will be established in all provincial secretariats and the central office on March 3 to facilitate widespread participation of PTI members from across Pakistan, enabling them to exercise their democratic rights.
Moreover, PTI has formally notified the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) regarding its intent to hold intra-party polls, along with submitting the election schedule.
In contrast, dissatisfied party leader Akbar S Babar has opted to challenge PTI’s decision to conduct intra-party elections before the election commission, alleging the nullification of the current party leadership.
