Information Minister Attaullah Tarar confirmed that All Meetings with Imran Khan Halted at Adiala Jail, Says Tarar after authorities reported repeated violation of prison rules and attempts to manipulate politics from behind bars.
Tarar stated that no visitors will be allowed to meet the PTI founder inside Adiala Jail. Authorities will also block any crowd gatherings outside the prison. He said the decision came after political instructions were being issued during meetings.
Tarar warned that the state will enforce its writ and deal with disorder “with an iron hand.”
Accusations of Anti-State Activities
During a TV appearance, Tarar said conspiracies were being orchestrated from outside the jail. He accused Imran Khan of giving interviews to Indian channels and spreading propaganda against Pakistan.
The minister said Khan and PTI aimed to push Pakistan toward default by writing letters to the IMF. He added that the May 9 attacks on military installations were acts “even the enemy would not commit.”
Tarar said the government has closed the door to dialogue with PTI due to extremist rhetoric. Talks could only happen in Parliament and only without the PTI founder.
He added that PTI must first apologise and accept responsibility if it wants any political future. According to him, many PTI leaders privately admit Khan led the party in the wrong direction.
Legal Consequences for Disorder
The minister said that prison rules govern inmate meetings, and right now “there are no meetings, the meetings are closed.”
He warned that attempts to create unrest outside Adiala Jail will lead to strict legal action.
DG ISPR Lt-Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry also delivered a strong rebuke against Imran Khan, calling him the source of a “creeping national security threat.” He said Khan’s “anti-army narrative” crossed into national security.
The DG ISPR stated that Khan’s ego and delusional mindset reached a point where “he believed the world would cease to exist without him.”
