ANP workers stage protest against Sartaj Khan’s killing in Peshawar

Case of ANP leader Sartaj Khan’s murder registered

PESHAWAR: Enraged workers of the Awami National Party (ANP) on Saturday took to the streets and blocked the GT Road for all kind of traffic in protest against killing of its Peshawar District President Sartaj Khan earlier today.
The ANP workers blocked GT Road and chanted slogans against government for failure to ensure security to its leaders. The protesters strongly condemned the cowardly attack and demanded of the government to take steps for the early arrest of the miscreants involved in the attack.
Earlier today, unknown motorcycle riders opened firing at the Awami National Party (ANP) District President Sartaj Khan and killed him.
The party’s parliamentary leader Sardar Hussain Babak condemned the incident. He decried that the government had failed to provide protection to its citizens while mourning the loss of the slain leader.
“We are being targeted again and again,” he said, adding that Khan was a long-time member of the party and losing him is a setback for ANP.
Senior Superintendent of Police Zahoor Babar Afridi told the media that two motorcyclists had targeted Khan and that further investigation was underway. “It could be a target killing,” the SSP said.
Khan earlier served as the general secretary of the ANP’s city district and had been elected as the president for Peshawar in the recent intra-party elections.
