ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has officially launched the Apna Ghar Scheme Pakistan, announcing major relief measures for the public in the upcoming federal budget.
Addressing a ceremony in the federal capital, the prime minister said the government is preparing important steps to support public welfare. He said the Apna Ghar Scheme Pakistan aims to help citizens build their own homes through easy loans.
Under the scheme, individuals will be able to get loans of up to Rs10 million on easy terms. The Apna Ghar Scheme Pakistan will cover all four provinces, as well as Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The prime minister said a large number of people in the country still do not own a house. Providing housing to such families is a national responsibility. He congratulated those who will benefit from the scheme and said the government is committed to ensuring shelter for the common man.
In the first phase, the government has set a target to provide loans for 50,000 houses. For this purpose, Rs321 billion has been allocated. The prime minister added that over the next four years, the goal is to support the construction of 500,000 homes.
He said the total size of the Apna Ghar Scheme Pakistan will reach Rs3.2 trillion, and it will support house construction on plots up to 10 marla.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif assured that he will personally review the progress of the scheme every month to ensure effective implementation.
He also said banks that actively participate in the Apna Ghar Scheme Pakistan will be appreciated. Institutions showing strong performance will be given awards on August 14.
The prime minister added that this initiative will boost the construction sector and increase economic activity across the country. He expressed hope that the Apna Ghar Scheme Pakistan will play a key role in improving living standards and strengthening the economy.
