Apple is preparing to launch a bold new design called the Liquid Glass UI. This updated interface will introduce glossy, translucent visuals across apps, toolbars, and system settings. Mark Gurman of Bloomberg shared these details ahead of the announcement.
The Liquid Glass redesign will bring shimmer and transparency to the entire Apple ecosystem. Apple rarely changes its interface this drastically. The last major shift came with iOS 7, when the company moved away from skeuomorphism and embraced a flatter, cleaner look.
According to Gurman, Apple plans to reveal the Liquid Glass UI during its Worldwide Developers Conference. WWDC 2025 begins on June 9 at 1 PM ET / 10 AM PT. This event will offer the first official look at the new visual direction.
Apple may also tie the new Liquid Glass interface to the iPhone’s 20th anniversary. The special-edition iPhone, expected next year, might feature curved glass sides and ultra-thin bezels. It’s rumored to have no cutouts or notches on the screen, fitting the sleek new aesthetic.
The Liquid Glass UI will not be limited to just iPhones. Apple wants a unified look across all platforms. This new design will stretch across iOS 26, macOS, iPadOS, watchOS, and tvOS. The updated Apple user interface will also reflect elements seen in the Apple Vision Pro, creating a consistent experience across devices.
If the reports are accurate, this Apple UI overhaul will be the most significant visual update in over a decade. The redesign aims to make Apple’s software feel modern, light, and futuristic—matching the hardware’s elegance.
