Maisa Abdel Hadi, a prominent Arab Israeli actor residing in Nazareth, was arrested for allegation of “incitement to terrorism” over a social media post related to Gaza situation.
The post allegedly featured a picture of a bulldozer breaching the Gaza-Israel fence during the attack, with a caption suggesting a Berlin Wall-style event. Hadi’s lawyer, Jaafar Farah, stated that she is accused of supporting terrorism.
This incident reflects a trend of Arab Israelis facing detention over social media posts discussing the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. Dalal Abu Amneh, an Arab Israeli singer, was also briefly detained recently for a similar reason.
Members of Israel’s Arab minority and Palestinians in East Jerusalem have reportedly faced consequences such as job loss, expulsion from colleges, and arrests for expressing solidarity with Gaza residents during the conflict.
She is one of a growing number of Arab Israelis to be detained over social media posts discussing the devastating war.
The 37-year-old actress has played in several series, films, and plays.
