Army Chief chairs high level security conference in Karachi

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Wednesday chaired a security review meeting at Corps Headquarters Karachi where the military chief was briefed on the progress made in the ongoing Karachi operation and security situation, ISPR said.
According to ISPR, Corps Commander Karachi Lt-Gen Naveed Mukhtar, DG ISI Lt-Gen. Rizwan Akhtar, DG Rangers Major Gen. Bilal Akbar and DGMO attended the meeting.
Army Chief appreciated the effectiveness of intelligence based operations and lauded Rangers and other law enforcement agencies for their coordinated cooperation during the ongoing operation in Karachi.
The army chief commended intelligence agencies for achieving major breakthrough in unearthing various terrorist networks. He asked the law enforcement agencies to assist the government in ensuring peace in Karachi. “We would go to any length to make Karachi secure and free of terrorism in order to ensure a peaceful and fearless daily life for the people of the metropolis,” he said.
