Islamabad: The federal government has deployed the army in Islamabad to ensure security for the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Heads of States meeting, scheduled for October 15-16.
In a notification issued on Friday, the Interior Ministry confirmed that army troops will be stationed in the federal capital from October 5 to 17. The deployment is being made under Article 245 of the Constitution.

The army will take primary responsibility for Islamabad’s security during the event, with support from the police and other law enforcement agencies. This move aims to provide robust security for the high-profile summit.
