Rawalpindi: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Rawalpindi has issued an arrest warrant for Alima Khan in connection with a case related to the November 26, 2024, protest. Her request for a one-day exemption from attendance was rejected, and the court ordered that the case be heard daily to avoid further delays.
The hearing was presided over by ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah. Alima Khan was represented by her lawyer Faisal Malik, while Prosecutor Zaheer Shah appeared for the government. During the proceedings, cross-examination of 10 witnesses by the lawyers of five accused was completed, but further cross-examination could not be conducted on the same day.
Prosecutor Zaheer Shah told the court that the case has already undergone 28 hearings, and due to Alima Khan’s conduct, the proceedings have been continuously delayed, prompting the court to schedule daily hearings.
Regarding Alima Khan’s request for exemption from appearing in court, the prosecution objected, stating that there was no cause list available for her ongoing cases in Lahore. Consequently, the court rejected her attendance exemption request and issued an arrest warrant against her. The next hearing has been adjourned for one day.
