PARIS: Pakistan’s star javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem has vowed to make his country proud in the final of the javelin throw event at the Paris Olympics’ 2024 final scheduled for today.
Arshad Nadeem qualified for the Javelin Throw final with an impressive 86.59-meter throw in his first qualification attempt. In an interview with a local television station, he stated, “I want to make Pakistan proud in the Olympic Games.”
India’s Neeraj Chopra also secured his place in the final round with a massive 89.34-meter throw on his first attempt.
Arshad Nadeem expressed hope that both he and Neeraj Chopra would make their respective nations proud. “Neeraj Chopra is a good friend, and we will try to focus on the final round,” said Pakistan’s star athlete.
He also expressed optimism about his performance in the final round and thanked his fans for their support during the Olympic Games.
The final of the Javelin Throw will take place today, August 8, at 11:25 PM Pakistan Standard Time (PST).

Arshad Nadeem, a nine-time international medalist and four-time gold medalist who finished fifth at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, is Pakistan’s best hope for a medal at the Paris Olympics. He won silver at the World Championships last year and gold at the Commonwealth Games in 2022 with a remarkable 90.18-meter throw. The last time Pakistan won an Olympic medal was in 1992 in Barcelona, securing bronze in hockey.
