An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore accepted PTI social activist Sanam Javed’s post-arrest bail application on Monday in connection with the torching of a PML-N office on May 9.
The court approved the bail on the condition of a Rs0.2 million bail bond. The ATC judge, Arshad Javed Chadhar, delivered the verdict.
Deputy Prosecutor Abdul Jabbar Dogar opposed Sanam’s plea, accusing her of inciting and actively participating in the vandalism, stating that she threw petrol bombs herself.
Dogar emphasized the gravity of the situation on May 9, asserting it was an attack on the state orchestrated as part of a well-planned scheme.
In defense, PTI activist Sanam Javed’s lawyer, Shakil Pasha Advocate, highlighted that his client was nominated in the case six months after the May 9 violence.
Sanam is currently in custody, accused of involvement in the violent incidents that erupted after the arrest of former Prime Minister and ex-PTI chairman Imran Khan on that day.
The unrest led to widespread protests, with thousands expressing their anger by damaging and setting fire to government and military installations in major cities across the country.
