Pakistan spinner Usman Tariq has come under renewed attention following the T20 match against Australia, after questions were raised about his bowling action during the ongoing series.
According to sources, the issue played a role in Tariq being left out of the third T20I. The Pakistan team management has not issued an official statement on the matter so far.
In the second T20I, Tariq delivered an impressive spell and picked up two key wickets, including Cameron Green. After his dismissal, Green appeared to question Tariq’s bowling action on the field, an incident that quickly became a talking point.
Soon after, Tariq posted a reaction on social media, sharing an image with the caption: “After getting out?” The post went viral and triggered debate among cricket fans online.
The discussion intensified when sections of the Australian media highlighted Tariq’s unusual bowling action, with some observers describing the coverage as a coordinated campaign.
The episode has drawn comparisons to former Pakistan spinner Saeed Ajmal, who previously faced scrutiny over his bowling action. Ajmal reacted strongly to the incident, criticising Green’s on-field conduct and calling for action through official channels.
Ajmal said any concerns about a bowler’s action should be reported to the ICC or the match referee, rather than raised publicly during play. He added that officials should ensure professional conduct is maintained on the field.
Meanwhile, an Australian newspaper, in its commentary, advised its players to focus on performance rather than off-field controversies.
