Khyber Network and FJWU Join Hands to Strengthen Media Education & Industry Collaboration

Islamabad: Khyber Network, the media network behind AVT Khyber, Khyber News, and Kay2 TV, has entered into a strategic partnership with Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at advancing media education, research collaboration, and professional training opportunities for young women.

The MoU was signed by Prof. Dr. Bushra Mirza (Pride of Performance, T.I.), Vice Chancellor of FJWU, and Mr. Kaiwan Hamid Raja, CEO of Khyber Digital & Executive Director of Khyber Network. Dr. Muhammad Ali, Head of the Department of Communication & Media Studies, and Mr. Bilal Nasr, GM of Khyber Digital, signed as focal persons for this collaboration.

Senior representatives from both institutions were present at the ceremony, including Prof. Dr. Sarwet Rasul (Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences), Dr. Ishrat (Director ORIC), faculty members from the Department of Communication & Media Studies, and the ORIC team from FJWU. From Khyber Network, Ms. Marriam Kaiwan (President, Khudmukhtar Sawi), Mr. Saif Ullah Khan (Manager, Digital Presentations), and Ms. Nayab Ayaz (Coordination Officer, Khyber Digital) also attended the signing.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Kaiwan Hamid Raja stated that the partnership reflects Khyber Network’s ongoing commitment to nurturing emerging media talent in Pakistan.

“This collaboration represents a win-win model for media and academia. It combines fresh ideas, academic research, creativity, and industry experience to build future-ready media professionals. Together, we aim to cultivate meaningful narratives and provide platforms for young talent to excel.”

He emphasized that the media industry increasingly requires skilled graduates equipped with digital expertise, research capability, and storytelling innovation in areas this partnership aims to strengthen.

Prof. Dr. Bushra Mirza highlighted the value of bridging academic knowledge with professional exposure, saying that modern media education must evolve with the industry’s changing landscape.

“Strong academia-industry linkages are essential to nurture innovation and professional excellence. This partnership will empower students with real-world skills, research insight, and creative opportunities.”

In addition to this, Dr. Muhammad Ali, Head of the Department of Communication and Media Studies, shared:

“At the Department of Communication and Media Studies, our focus remains on developing skill-based graduates equipped with the latest media trends, combining theory with practical application. This partnership with Khyber Network will further strengthen that vision, enabling the department to create more diverse, hands-on, and industry-aligned opportunities for our students.”

He appreciated the initiative and reiterated FJWU’s focus on developing students who combine theoretical learning with hands-on media practice.
