Babar Azam, the Pakistan cricket team’s batter, has announced his decision to step down as the white-ball captain following the team’s disappointing performance in the T20 World Cup 2024.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Babar shared, “Dear Fans, I have some news to share with you today.”
“I have chosen to resign as the captain of the Pakistan men’s cricket team, effective from my notification to the PCB and Team Management last month. It has been an honor to lead this team, but I feel it’s time to focus on my playing role,” he stated.
Babar explained, “Captaincy has been a rewarding journey, but it has come with a heavy workload. I want to prioritize my performance, enjoy my batting, and spend more quality time with my family, which brings me joy.”
He added, “By stepping down, I hope to gain clarity for the future and direct my energy towards my game and personal growth. I am truly grateful for your unwavering support and belief in me; your enthusiasm means the world.”
Babar concluded, “I am proud of our achievements together and look forward to continuing my contributions to the team as a player. Thank you for your love and support.”
