Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur have strongly denounced the Bagh Maidan terror attack, which claimed the lives of several innocent civilians in the Tirah Valley.
In his official statement, the prime minister called the assault a heinous act of terror. He said that the Bagh Maidan attack would not weaken the nation’s determination to fight militancy. Shehbaz Sharif directed authorities to provide immediate medical care to all those injured. He also reaffirmed that his government remained firm in its mission to eliminate terrorism in all its forms.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government expressed deep sorrow over the deadly assault. Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur announced financial compensation for the victims’ families. Each bereaved family of the Bagh Maidan incident would receive Rs10 million, while Rs2.5 million would go to every injured civilian. He stated that his administration is dedicated to lasting peace, safety of citizens, and fostering harmony.
CM Gandapur revealed that a grand jirga in Peshawar would soon be held. It will include tribal elders and elected representatives to address public concerns and feelings after the Bagh Maidan tragedy. He also shared plans to hold multiple jirgas at divisional and provincial levels in the coming week.
The chief minister instructed district officials and related institutions to strengthen their connection with the people and ensure law and order. He stressed that measures to counter such attacks had already been drafted during the All Parties Conference. These recommendations will now move towards full implementation to prevent further bloodshed.
Both leaders emphasized that the Bagh Maidan assault is a stark reminder of the threat posed by terrorism, but the resolve to restore and preserve peace stands stronger than ever.
