Bajaur Terrorist Attack Sparks Strong FO Demarche

The Bajaur terrorist attack has triggered a strong response from Pakistan, as the Foreign Office summoned the Afghan Deputy Head of Mission and delivered a formal demarche to the Afghan Taliban regime.

The Bajaur terrorist attack took place on February 16, 2026. Eleven Pakistani soldiers were martyred in the assault. According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office spokesperson, Pakistan strongly condemned the vehicle-borne suicide attack followed by a fire raid on a military and law enforcement post in Bajaur. The attack was carried out by Fitna Al Khwarij, also known as TTP.

Officials said the Bajaur terrorist attack raised serious concerns about the presence of militant groups operating from Afghan soil. The ministry conveyed that the entire leadership of Fitna Al Khwarij is based in Afghanistan and continues to operate without restriction.

Pakistan reminded the Afghan Taliban regime that it has repeatedly given assurances about action against such groups. However, the statement noted that there have been no visible or concrete steps so far. The Pakistan Foreign Office demarche urged the Afghan authorities to take immediate, verifiable measures against all terror groups operating from their territory, including their leadership.

The spokesperson also made it clear that Pakistan reserves the right to respond to the Bajaur terrorist attack and eliminate any members of Fitna Al Khwarij and their affiliates wherever they may be. The statement stressed that Pakistan will take all necessary steps to protect its soldiers, civilians, and territorial integrity.

The Bajaur terrorist attack has once again brought cross-border security concerns into focus, as tensions remain high following the loss of 11 Pakistan soldiers martyred in the deadly assault.
