The Balochistan government has enforced Section 144 across the province to prevent highway blockages. This step aims to ensure smooth traffic flow on national roads. The decision comes after recent protests disrupted travel on several highways.
During a press conference on Monday, government spokesperson Shahid Rind addressed the issue. He shared that the chief minister had taken serious notice of these highway blockages. Political parties and other groups have been organizing protests, causing severe inconvenience for travelers. This disruption has particularly affected passengers using coaches and other public transport.
Rind highlighted the government’s commitment to resolving public concerns. He assured citizens that their ease and mobility remain top priorities. The chief minister acknowledged that peaceful protests are a fundamental democratic right. However, Rind emphasized that blocking national highways would not be tolerated. Such actions significantly hinder public mobility and create unnecessary challenges for citizens.
At present, protests are being held at three locations in Balochistan. The government remains focused on balancing the right to protest with the need to maintain public order. The Balochistan government aims to protect citizens’ rights while ensuring uninterrupted travel for all.
