ISLAMABAD: Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has said that counter-terrorism operations are intelligence-driven and aimed at precision, ensuring civilian safety remains paramount.
Addressing a group of students from Balochistan during a special session, the DG ISPR stressed that the actions of a single terrorist should never be used to endanger or penalise innocent communities. “Once troops withdraw, unaddressed threats may resurface — which is why local cooperation is vital,” he remarked.
Sacrifices Honoured
Paying tribute to Major Muhammad Anwar Kakar, who had played a key role in neutralising terrorists during the Gwadar attack, Lt Gen Chaudhry said the sacrifices of officers, soldiers, and civilians embody Pakistan’s collective resolve against terrorism.
He cautioned that civilians found providing shelter to militants or storing explosives would face consequences, but reaffirmed that entire communities should never be targeted for the actions of individuals.
People of Balochistan Praised
The DG ISPR lauded the people of Balochistan for their courage in reporting terrorist movements and rejecting extremist ideologies. “The youth of Balochistan are patriotic and deeply connected to Pakistan,” he said.
Highlighting the province’s diversity, he noted that more than 30 per cent of the population is Pashtun, while a larger number of Baloch live outside the province than within it.
Citing examples of accomplished Baloch personalities — including Cambridge-educated scientist Samad Yar Jang, martial artist Shahzaib Rind, and female deputy commissioners — Lt Gen Chaudhry said education is empowering Balochistan’s new generation to shape its future.
Unity Beyond Ethnic Lines
Concluding his remarks, the DG ISPR emphasised that Pakistan’s essence, rooted in the belief of Lā ilāha illallāh, binds the nation together beyond ethnic, sectarian, or regional divides.
