Bangladesh beat Pakistan by 104 runs in Mirpur Test as Nahid Rana’s five-wicket haul seals historic win

Bangladesh beat Pakistan by 104 runs

Bangladesh beat Pakistan by 104 runs in the first Test at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka, after a dominant all-round performance that exposed Pakistan’s batting collapse in the final innings.

The match turned decisively on the final day when Pakistan, chasing a target of 268 runs, were bowled out for just 163 runs in 52.5 overs. The pressure built early after an opening breakthrough by Taskin Ahmed, who dismissed Imam-ul-Haq for just two runs.

Although Azan Awais and Abdullah Fazal tried to steady the innings with a 50-run partnership, Pakistan kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Abdullah Fazal played a fighting knock of 66 runs, but lacked support from the other end.

Captain Shan Masood fell cheaply, and the middle order failed to build momentum. Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel added some resistance, but Bangladesh stayed firmly in control.

The biggest impact came from Nahid Rana, whose fast bowling tore through Pakistan’s lineup. He finished with outstanding figures of 5 wickets for 40 runs. His spell included key dismissals of Saud Shakeel, Mohammad Rizwan, Noman Ali, and Shaheen Afridi, breaking the backbone of the chase.

Taskin Ahmed and Taijul Islam also supported well with two wickets each, ensuring Bangladesh beat Pakistan by 104 runs without much late resistance.

Earlier, Bangladesh had set up the match with a strong total of 413 in their first innings. Mominul Haque, Najmul Hossain Shanto, and Mushfiqur Rahim all contributed with important half-centuries. Shanto also scored a century, guiding the innings with confidence.

Pakistan responded with 386 in their first innings, staying close but still conceding a small lead. Azan Awais impressed with a century, while Abdullah Fazal, Salman Ali Agha, and Mohammad Rizwan also added useful runs.

In their second innings, Bangladesh declared at 240 for 9, setting a challenging target that eventually proved too much for Pakistan’s batting lineup.

Despite some resistance from Pakistan’s debutants and senior players, Bangladesh maintained control throughout the match. In the end, Bangladesh beat Pakistan by 104 runs, taking a 1–0 lead in the two-Test series.
