LAHORE: Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Chairman Aminul Islam has arrived in Pakistan on an emergency visit ahead of a crucial ICC emergency meeting, sources confirmed on Friday.
According to sources, Aminul Islam is expected to take part in important discussions involving the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the International Cricket Council (ICC). The heads of both cricket boards will attend the ICC emergency meeting online.
Sources further revealed that the BCB chairman is likely to meet PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, where both sides will hold detailed talks on the current situation surrounding the ICC T20 World Cup. Other cricket-related matters of mutual interest are also expected to come under discussion.
After participating in the ICC meeting, Aminul Islam is scheduled to return to Dhaka later in the evening, sources added.
It is worth noting that Bangladesh had earlier requested the ICC to allow its T20 World Cup matches to be shifted from India to Sri Lanka, citing security concerns and threats from Hindu extremist groups. However, the ICC rejected the request, following which Bangladesh was removed from the tournament, and Scotland was included in its place.
In response to this decision, Pakistan expressed full solidarity with Bangladesh and formally recorded a strong protest. As a mark of protest, Pakistan has also announced a boycott of its group match against India scheduled for February 15.
