The Bangladesh tour of Pakistan has officially been confirmed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). In a press release on Tuesday, the PCB stated that Bangladesh will visit Pakistan later this month for a short three-match T20 International series.
The announcement followed successful discussions between PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Farooq Ahmed. The high-level meeting took place in Dubai, where both boards finalized the decision.
According to the PCB, all three games of the Bangladesh tour of Pakistan will be hosted at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. The series will take place within a narrow time window, as part of the international cricket calendar.
Initially, the tour was planned to include five T20I matches. However, the number was reduced to three after mutual agreement between both cricket boards. The earlier schedule, which spanned from May 25 to June 3, has also been revised. The new proposed window is now from May 27 to June 5.
While the exact dates for the T20Is are yet to be released, the PCB confirmed they will be announced shortly. This official confirmation puts an end to weeks of speculation regarding the series. Concerns had been raised earlier due to security and logistical challenges.
After prolonged negotiations, both the PCB and BCB finally reached an agreement. The successful outcome of their talks has paved the way for the Bangladesh tour of Pakistan to go ahead.
This will mark Bangladesh’s return to Pakistan for a full bilateral series for the first time since 2020. That year, they played T20Is in Lahore, followed by a single Test in Rawalpindi. A second Test and one ODI from the same tour were postponed indefinitely due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
The Bangladesh government had delayed its final decision about the team’s travel plans. However, the productive talks in Dubai indicate that full clearance has now been granted. Both cricket boards appear ready and optimistic about the upcoming Bangladesh tour of Pakistan.
