Bannu police peace committee urges ban on funeral prayers for terrorists

Bannu police peace committee in Bannu and Lakki Marwat has called on religious scholars to refrain from offering funeral prayers for any terrorist. The Bannu police peace committee made this appeal during the funeral of policemen martyred in a joint operation conducted by security forces, CTD, and local peace committees in the Miryan area of Bannu. The committee stressed that the nation must stand united against terrorism to restore lasting peace.

The committee paid tribute to the martyrs and urged religious leaders to openly support peace efforts. It warned against providing any moral or religious cover to militants and challenged those who justify violence in the name of religion to prove their argument, stating they were ready to resign collectively if proven wrong.

The peace committees also announced a plan to fully expel armed militants from Bannu and Lakki Marwat by the third day of Eidul Azha. They issued a strict warning that anyone supporting militants financially, logistically, or through shelter would be treated as an enemy of the state and face legal and military action without discrimination.

Officials and police expressed grief and determination, saying the sacrifices of martyrs would not go in vain. They urged citizens to stay alert, report suspicious activities, and fully support law enforcement agencies. The Bannu police peace committee also reiterated that public cooperation is essential to eliminate terrorism from the region.

Pakistan Army’s local brigade commander attended the funeral prayers of the martyred police personnel and assured that operations against militants would continue without pause until terrorism is eliminated. Later, he visited injured policemen and civilians at the district headquarters hospital along with the deputy commissioner and prayed for their speedy recovery. Security officials praised the coordination between the army and police, calling it crucial for effective action against militants.
