A new wave of Bannu terrorist attacks and assaults in North Waziristan has raised alarm over rising militancy in the region. Militants deployed advanced tactics, including drone strikes, bombings, and abductions, in their latest offensive.
Security personnel in Bannu came under attack from a quadcopter drone near Nala Tochi Bridge. The use of an unmanned aerial device marks a serious escalation in the methods employed by armed groups operating in the area.
In a separate strike, militants planted a powerful explosive on the Janikhel-Bannu connecting bridge under Haved police station. The blast destroyed a vital supply route, causing heavy damage and disrupting transportation. Police confirmed that the attack was a deliberate act of sabotage aimed at weakening local infrastructure.
Security forces immediately launched a retaliatory action, killing two militants believed to be involved in the Bannu terrorist attacks. Authorities are continuing their operations to clear the area of remaining threats.
Another attack targeted a Frontier Corps (FC) vehicle. The assault resulted in the martyrdom of the driver and injuries to an FC personnel. Following the incident, security teams initiated a search to hunt down the attackers.
Later in the night, a heavy assault on Basyakhel Police Station was repelled by law enforcement. Militants approached from multiple directions using heavy weapons but were forced to withdraw under intense return fire.
District Police Officer Saleem Abbas Kalachi reported that the clash lasted nearly an hour. No casualties were reported among police, though the attackers escaped in the darkness. A manhunt is underway to capture those behind the coordinated Bannu terrorist attacks
