Barkhan DSP Mureed Bugti Martyred in Ambush

DSP Mureed Bugti martyred

A senior police officer was martyred in a violent confrontation with armed assailants near Barkhan, in an incident that has left the local police force in mourning. DSP Mureed Bugti embraced martyrdom after gunmen ambushed police personnel at Ghata Chowki, though his colleague, constable Rasool Bakhsh, was later rescued unharmed.

According to police sources, the two officers had earlier been abducted by an armed group operating in the area. As soon as word of the abduction reached local authorities, a large contingent of police and security forces was rushed to the location.

How the Barkhan Rescue Operation Unfolded

Security personnel quickly sealed off the surrounding area and launched an intensive search effort aimed at tracking down the captors and recovering the missing officers. The operation, which involved coordinated deployment across the region, focused on cutting off possible escape routes for the armed group.

SP Barkhan, Abdul Haq, confirmed that constable Rasool Bakhsh was successfully and safely recovered during the course of the operation. However, he added that the armed attackers opened fire on DSP Mureed Bugti, who was martyred before he could be rescued.

Officer’s Body Moved to Barkhan Hospital

Following the attack, the martyred officer’s body was transported to Barkhan Hospital for the standard legal process. Officials confirmed that the remains will be handed over to the family once the postmortem examination and required legal formalities are completed.

Police departments in the area stated that efforts are underway to contact the family of the martyred DSP to inform them of the tragic development and assist with next steps.

Search for Attackers Continues

Authorities have confirmed that the manhunt for those responsible has not been called off. Security forces remain active in the Ghata Chowki area, working to identify and apprehend the armed men involved while gathering additional evidence linked to the ambush.

The case has drawn attention to ongoing security concerns in parts of Balochistan, where police personnel operating in remote areas continue to face serious risks. Officials say the investigation into the attack will proceed alongside the broader search operation until those responsible are brought to justice.
