ISLAMABAD: Barrister Gauhar, the Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has taken legal action by filing a petition in the Supreme Court to challenge the decision of the Peshawar High Court (PHC) regarding the withdrawal of the party’s election symbol, the “bat.”
The PTI contends that the PHC’s decision to revoke the election symbol lacked proper consideration of the evidence and raises questions about its validity. According to sources, Barrister Gauhar’s petition argues that the PHC’s ruling is not grounded in facts and expresses concerns about the admissibility of the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) application in the matter.
The PTI asserts that the ECP’s plea was not admissible to the PHC, leading to a verdict that, in their view, lacks a solid foundation. The party claims that crucial evidence supporting the legitimacy of the bat symbol was overlooked during the process, rendering the decision unlawful.
Barrister Gauhar, in the filed petition, emphasizes the flaws in the entire process, asserting that the decision to withdraw the election symbol was made illegally.
