A recent incident at Karachi’s Cantonment Station involved the Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU) discovering an explosive device on Saturday. According to the BDU report, the bomb was located near seat number 71 in bogie number 5 of Awami Express, concealed within a black and red school bag.
Weighing approximately 5 kg, the bag contained two and a half kg of explosives. After successfully defusing the bomb, the BDU also secured the electrical detonator associated with the explosive device.
The BDU emphasized that the recovered bomb at Cantt Station was effectively defused, averting potential danger.
The Karachi Deputy Inspector General (DIG) South, Asad Raza, revealed that the recovered bag contained an Improvised Explosive Device (IED). The bomb was safely defused through two controlled blasts. The report highlighted that the suspicious bag was reported at 9 am and had been discreetly placed under a seat in the train.
