Former President Donald Trump asserted on Tuesday that Jimmy Carter’s presidency appeared “brilliant” in comparison to his successor, Joe Biden, whom he labeled as the “worst president” in American history.
Speaking to reporters outside a bodega in Harlem, where a clerk had famously stabbed an ex-convict in self-defense two years prior, Trump, 77, made his remarks.
“Biden is the worst president in the history of our country,” Trump declared, positioning himself as the presumptive Republican nominee for the 2024 presidential election.
He continued, emphasizing, “Worse than Jimmy Carter by a long shot.” Trump suggested that Carter, now 99, would view his own presidency favorably in light of Biden’s performance.
Carter, who served a single term in the White House from 1977 to 1981, was referenced in comparison to illustrate Trump’s critique of Biden’s leadership.
