Big Relief for Pakistanis as Government Slashes Petrol and Diesel Prices

Government Announces Reduction in Petroleum Prices

Islamabad: The Government of Pakistan has announced a significant reduction in petroleum product prices at the start of the new year, providing much-needed relief to the public. The newly notified rates are being described as the lowest so far in 2025.

The decision comes in response to a sharp decline in global crude oil prices, prompting the government to pass on the benefit to consumers. According to the official notification, the revised prices will remain effective for the next 15 days.

Under the new rates, the price of petrol has been reduced by Rs10.28 per litre, bringing the new price down to Rs253.17 per litre.

Similarly, high-speed diesel has been cut by Rs8.57 per litre, with the revised price set at Rs257.08 per litre.

In addition, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has issued a separate notification announcing a reduction of Rs9.66 per litre in kerosene oil prices, fixing the new rate at Rs170.88 per litre.

The notification further states that the new petroleum prices will come into effect from 12:00 midnight and will remain applicable until December 15.
