Mariyam Kaiwan receives achievement award from Bint-e-Hawa Forum for social impact

PESHAWAR – Mariyam Kaiwan, the CEO of Khud Mukhtar SAWI, has been honored by the Bint-e-Hawa Forum with its 4th Achievement Award in the Social Work category. Her tireless efforts in promoting peace, development, and human dignity have earned her this recognition.

Mariyam leads one of the most respected organizations in the field of community service. Her work focuses on countering extremism through education, development, and women-led initiatives. She is a powerful voice for marginalized communities, especially women. Through her humanitarian efforts, she has uplifted many lives in conflict-affected areas.

In addition to her grassroots work, Mariyam is also a published writer. Her articles often highlight social injustices and the struggles of ordinary people. She writes regularly in national newspapers, using her voice to spark awareness and change.

The award was presented during a special ceremony held at the Governor’s House in Peshawar on Monday. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi attended the event as the chief guest. In his speech, he emphasized that women are equal partners in the progress of the country. He said that women in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are thriving in every profession, from science to sports.

He also praised Pashtun culture for preserving the respect and dignity of women. The Governor added that true development is impossible without recognizing women’s roles in public welfare and professional life. He further announced the establishment of the first Women University in Bannu to serve southern parts of the province.

The ceremony celebrated the achievements of outstanding women in many sectors. These included health, education, journalism, IT, literature, and social work. Prominent attendees included MPA Asma Alam, founder of Bint-e-Hawa Forum Alamzaib, and former ombudsperson Rakhshanda Naz.

Governor Kundi also presented Lifetime Achievement Awards to three influential women—Rakhshanda Naz, Farzana Ali, and Nasreen Aman. These women were honored for their lifelong commitment to societal contribution and leadership in various fields.

In his closing remarks, the Governor congratulated all award recipients. He commended the Bint-e-Hawa Forum and its partners for promoting women across all sectors. He stated that events like this reflect the values of a society that honors women not only at home but also in their careers and grassroots activism.

Governor Kundi concluded by saying that empowering women is essential for a just and prosperous future. Without their active role in social work and nation-building, real progress cannot happen.
