Kabul: Several people were killed in a blast in Afghanistan’s capital, Kabul, on Sunday, officials confirmed.
According to a foreign news agency, the explosion occurred in the Shahr-e-Naw area, leaving multiple people dead and injured. Rescue teams rushed to the scene and shifted the injured to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Spokesperson for the Afghan Ministry of Interior Abdul Mateen Qani confirmed that the blast had resulted in multiple fatalities. He said that further details would be shared soon.
The Shahr-e-Naw area is known for housing foreign residents and key facilities and is considered one of the relatively secure areas of Kabul.
Authorities said the nature of the blast and the exact number of casualties have not yet been determined, and investigations are underway.
