MARDAN: A blast in Mardan city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday resulted in the deaths of at least two people and injuries to eight others.
The blast occurred near the Jalala bridge in Takht Bhai tehsil, affecting policemen, women, and children, who were subsequently taken to THQ hospital for treatment. Police have secured the area and are collecting evidence.
This incident follows a recent remote-controlled bombing in Bajaur on Wednesday, which killed five people, including former senator Hidayatullah. The attack targeted Hidayatullah in Damadola, claiming the lives of Irfan and Nazar Deen among others. Hidayatullah, brother of former KP Governor Shukatullah, was on an election campaign when the attack occurred.
The region has seen significant insurgent activity from groups like the TTP, known for targeting military and civilian entities. The increased violence underscores ongoing security challenges in the area.
