LONDON: A social media platform, Blue-Sky, has reported a huge rise in UK subscription numbers with UK based account activity increasing by 60%.
This was due to Elon Musk’s disputed remarks about the recent outbreaks of nation-wide rioting which made his users seek alternative platforms like X for instance. Additionally, some MPs from the UK have recently signed up for Blue-sky.
This attracted widespread condemnation led by Prime Minister Keir Starmer who criticized Musk for spreading misinformation and suggesting that Britain was bound to face a civil war.
There has been a significant increase in signups on Blue-sky with the UK leading at least five out of seven days in the week. This growth is happening when Blue-Sky is still trying to establish itself as an alternative to X which despite its challenges since being taken over by Musk in late 2022 is still a major player in social media. Currently, Blue-Sky boasts roughly 688,568 monthly active users compared to X’s 76.9 million users. No updates on user growth in the UK have been released yet by other platforms such as Threads and Mastodon.
