Indian Authorities in New Delhi took swift action on Tuesday following a bomb threat targeting a domestic flight, leading to the plane being diverted to an isolation bay at the city’s Indira Gandhi International Airport.
The threat, however, turned out to be a false alarm.
The IndiGo flight, which was scheduled to travel from Delhi to Varanasi, was intercepted just minutes before takeoff after a bomb threat was received via a phone call. The aircraft, carrying 176 passengers, was immediately taken to an isolation bay for a thorough security check.
Passengers and crew were deboarded through an emergency exit, and the plane underwent an extensive inspection. No suspicious items were found.
“The flight is currently undergoing inspection. Post completion of all security checks, the aircraft will be positioned back in the terminal area,” IndiGo stated.
This incident adds to a recent spate of hoax bomb threats affecting schools, airports, and hospitals in New Delhi and other regions.
