ISLAMABAD: Saira Peter, the British-Pakistani Sufi Opera sensation, has been honored with a special letter of appreciation from Buckingham Palace. The recognition comes in response to her rendition of the British national anthem, ‘God Save the King,’ following the coronation of King Charles III.
In her soprano vocal range, Saira delivered a captivating performance, prompting a gracious response from the King himself. His letter expressed warm regards and sincere gratitude for her contributions to public service. Alongside the letter, King Charles III and Queen Camilla sent a signed photo card.
Commissioned by UK government offices at Hastings Town Hall in East Sussex, the recording serves as a staple for official government occasions in the region, including citizenship ceremonies, as stated in a news release.
This accolade adds to Saira’s impressive resume, as she previously recorded ‘God Save the Queen’ in 2018, becoming the first Asian and the sole Pakistani to receive such an honor. Her rendition garnered a personal letter of appreciation from the late Queen.
Saira Peter continues to make history as Pakistan’s first opera singer, the world’s inaugural Sufi Opera vocalist, and now, the first Asian to record the British national anthem. Her achievements continually elevate Pakistan’s global reputation on the world stage.
