Bushra Bibi, the wife of former PTI leader Imran Khan, is in legal trouble. She is facing two legal cases under the Telegraph Act of 1885 and other related laws. FIRs were filed against her in Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajan Pur after a controversial video statement she made recently.
In her statement, Bushra Bibi claimed that after Imran Khan visited Medina barefoot, there were calls questioning the former Army Chief Qamar Javed Bajwa about his choice to support Khan. She said Bajwa was told that they were planning to get rid of Sharia law in Pakistan. This, she argued, sparked a campaign against them. She also stated that Imran Khan, the founder of PTI, was unfairly called a Jewish agent.
The FIR filed in Dera Ghazi Khan accuses Bushra Bibi of making statements meant to cause public unrest. The complaint, made by a citizen named Ghulam Yaseen, says that her video message was part of a larger conspiracy. The authorities believe her comments were designed to provoke the public. Additionally, they argue that her remarks against Saudi Arabia harmed the country’s foreign policy and public interests.
The police have confirmed that they are taking legal action against Bushra Bibi under Section 126 of the Telegraph Act, along with other laws.
PTI’s central leadership has reacted by distancing itself from Bushra Bibi’s comments. They have expressed concern about her remarks and advised her to get approval from the party before making further statements.
