LONDONE: England, the reigning champions of the 2022 edition, unveiled their squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 on Tuesday, as reported by the ICC.
Making a notable return to the international cricket scene after a year-long hiatus due to injury, Jofra Archer finds his place secured in England’s squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.
Having last represented England in March 2023, Archer has been on a journey of recovery from an elbow injury that kept him sidelined for nearly 12 months.
Archer’s path to recovery has been fraught with challenges since 2021, including stress fractures, persistent elbow issues, and even surgery following a peculiar fish tank accident.
Despite their recent absence from the England setup, seasoned all-rounder Chris Jordan has also clinched his spot in the squad, with his last international appearance dating back to September 2023.
Leading the batting lineup will be Jos Buttler, captaining the defending champions, supported by the likes of Will Jacks, Phil Salt, and Jonny Bairstow among the top-order candidates. Adding a left-handed dynamic to the squad, Ben Duckett joins veteran all-rounder Moeen Ali.
The lower-order batting strength will be provided by Harry Brook, Liam Livingstone, and Sam Curran, while Adil Rashid will spearhead the spin attack alongside Tom Hartley.

This same squad will contest the four-match T20I series against Pakistan, set to commence on May 22. All players currently participating in the Indian Premier League will return in time for the T20I series against Babar Azam’s side.
Teams have until May 25 to make adjustments to their squads, after which any alterations will necessitate approval from the ICC’s Event Technical Committee.
England will depart for the Caribbean on May 31 ahead of their opening match against Scotland in Barbados on June 4. They have been placed in Group B at the T20 World Cup, alongside Australia, Namibia, Scotland, and Oman.
